Slow Burn
William J. Hall - April 22, 2024

  1 She's a mill-town girl - seen its high-times and its trials
2 And she keeps this place alive - don't betray the miles (mmmmhmmmm)
3 Whenever I play this old town
4 Last cutain call, well, I come around
5 I play for her while she closes down
6 And she smiles me that slow burn

7 I've been all around the world - she knows all my tales of glory (no lie)
8 And she laughs along for real even though she knows the story (mercy my)
9 When the show is over and the doors are shut
10 Play her these songs while she's lockin' up
11 She sets down here for a final cup
12 And she smiles me that slow burn:

13 "No matter what you do
  14 "Or what you say
  15 "Break me in two
  16 "I'll love you anyway
17 "No matter what you say
  18 "Or what you do
  19 "Won't turn me away
  20 "That's how I love you."

  21 She's a mill-town girl - almost everythihg I ever wanted
22 But for this crazy life I do - that berings me 'round to where I started (no wonder why)
23 We sit together in the growing dawn
24 And we laugh and we cry
25 And we live and we die
  26 To the rising sun
27 I dream about her when I'm gone
28 And she smiles me that slow burn:

29 "No matter what you do
  30 "Or what you say
  31 "Break me in two
  32 "I'll love you anyway
33 "No matter what you say
  18 "Or what you do
  34 "Won't turn me away
  35 Mmmmhmmmm"
