Ho Hi To the Morning Sky
William J. Hall - August 1995

Coyote likes his singing
Does his tricks for free
Foxy and the fireflies
Prance under the willow
Horses stand by keeping time
Deer look on to see
What kind of moon-lit paradise
Lies out in the meadow
I bid you well; I wish you well
May the will of the weather weave its spell for you
'Till we say, "Ho! Hi!" to the morning sky
And it fades away, fades away with the new day light

Saw-whet owl is calling squares
For assembled company
The ducks are stepping out in pairs
With the rest of the fellows
And the crickets sound like choir boys
Along with Willy & me
And the stars like fireworks everywhere
Blaze over the meadow
I bid you well; I wish you well
May the will of the weather weave its spell for you
'Till we say, "Ho! Hi!" to the morning sky
And it fades away, fades away with the new day light
