Gurnsey County
William J. Hall - March, 1988

I can almost see sun on the trees,
Birds that sail across a flawless sky,
Streets that wander through my town on the hill;
Down below mill wheels turning.

In my mind's eye I know the way
Springtime played when I was just a boy -
And I don't mind it don't stay the same;
I know that change is part of living.

The road goes on - time rolls out forever.
Woven through the fabric of the things I do
Is I always know where I come from:
The rolling hills of Gurnsey County.

This is the house my great-great grandfather made
My great-aunt lived half a mile from here
Though most have gone, yet some remain
And in my heart they all are shining.

The road goes on - time rolls out forever.
Woven through the fabric of the things I do
Is I always know where I come from:
The rolling hills of Gurnsey County.

I can almost see sun on the trees,
Birds that sail across a flawless sky,
Streets that wander through my town on the hill;
The rolling hills of Gurnsey County.
